- Keep bodily gases to a minimum and excuse yourself if need be.
- Try to keep away from social media during business hours.
- Try not to cough or sneeze in anyone’s direction. Use a tissue, if possible, to contain the germs and then say “Excuse me”.
- Try not to sing loudly to music whether it is playing out loud or in your head.
- Always try to speak clearly and in a suitable volume of voice.
- Make sure to say, “Please; Thank you; and You’re welcome”, as part of your everyday courteousness.
- Don’t gossip about the private life of any co-worker.
- Avoid making sexist comments about a co-worker’s appearance or dress sense.
- Keep you mobile phone on ‘Mute’ in the office. No funny ring tones.
- Don’t eat in front of customers or when on the phone.
- Keep personal emails to a bare minimum.
- Don’t bring food into work to eat that gives off an overpowering smell. You may think that they smell and taste delicious, but your colleagues may not agree.
- Make sure all apologies are sincere and are not spoken in a sarcastic tone.
- Do not spend time making excessive personal cell phone calls
- Speaking on a speaker phone when others are trying to work can be distracting.
- Gossiping within earshot of others and maybe the person the gossip is about.
- If listening to music during quiet period or whilst on break, have earplugs plugged in to stop the music from distracting others.
